Located in Northeast Florida, the St. Augustine Battalion consists of cadets from Flagler, St. Johns, Putnam & Clay counties. Cadets meet for drill one Saturday and Sunday and the last Sunday each month during the school year. We normally meet at the St. John's County Sherrif's office, 4015 Lewis Speedway, St. Augustine, FL 32084, but we do meet at other locations for special events. Cadets also participate in one or two week training's during the summer or winter months that may occur on an active military base.
Our goal is to
-
Develop an appreciation for Naval History, traditions and customs and their role in national defense.
-
Develop a sense of pride in our nation, positive qualities of patriotism, courage and self-reliance, confidence and strong moral character and good citizenship traits.
-
Develop an interest and skill in seamanship and seagoing and aviation subjects.
-
Introduce new avenues of learning that will lead to developing an interest in college or trade school.
-
Increase the advancement potential of cadets who may later elect to serve in the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard or Merchant Marines.
